a b c d e f g JCO#1 (Hidoku; proposed Jul 12, 2025)
Hidoku puzzles presented in this site are puzzles presented in a N by N board
with some numbers pre-filled (the "givens"). The remaining numbers must be
found through logic deductions so as to form a continuous path (from 1 to NxN)
through a grid, where consecutive numbers must connect adjacently, including
diagonally, like the king's moves in chess. In general, the grid could be N by M.
In the grid (see above), columns are labeled using letters from left to right
and rows are identified with number starting at the bottom.
These identifications are made to enable the notation of moves.
For instance, for the puzzle displayed above the firt move is 1.(21)f7.
The solution to JCO#1 (Hidoku) is
,----------------------------,
|*14 *15 *_6 *_5 _4 *21 20 |7
|*13 *_7 16 *_3 *18 19 22 |6
| _8 *12 *_2 *17 *24 *23 *28 |5
|*_9 *10 *11 _1 25 29 *27 |4
|*34 *33 *47 *31 *30 *26 *43 |3
|*35 *48 32 *46 39 *44 *42 |2
| 49 *36 *37 38 *45 *40 41 |1

Numbers with * have being found through logic deduction
and the remaining numbers are givens. You can start at
1 and follow the obtained path all the way to 49. In this
puzzle 1 and 49 were given, but this does not need to be
always the case.
